Legal Assistants
Legal Assistants are the fastest-growing membership group in the North Carolina Advocates For Justice. Our legal assistant membership has grown from 449 members in 1999 to 531 members in 2002 - a fact with which we are extremely pleased. The North Carolina Advocates For Justice strives to be a source of support, research, advocacy, and community not only for attorneys but also for legal assistants across the state.
Legal assistant members enjoy all of the same benefits as our attorney members; they also have their own Legal Assistants Division, enjoy discounts on CLEs, and are offered complimentary membership in one section of their choice. Legal assistants in their first year of practice and legal assistant students enjoy free membership in the North Carolina Advocates For Justice. In addition to providing a network of support for legal assistant members, the Legal Assistants Division also holds its own continuing education programs and publishes its own newsletter, Discovery, three times a year.
We encourage all of our attorney members to sponsor their legal assistants for membership in the North Carolina Advocates For Justice. The benefits for legal assistants and the attorneys with whom they work are beyond compare.

Law Office Managers
Sensing the need for a peer group for those who manage law offices, a few years ago the North Carolina Advocates For Justice created a new division, the Law Office Management Division. The division is open to members who are law office managers and firm administrators. No matter what their official title in their individual workplace, anyone who has an administrative function in their law office can join the North Carolina Advocates For Justice as a Law Office Manager. Law Office Manager members enjoy all the same benefits of regular attorney members, plus discounts on CLEs, a division made up of their peers, and complimentary membership in the Small Office Practice Section. The Law Office Management Division works very closely with the Small Office Practice Section to ensure that the needs of members who practice in small firms are being met.
If you would like to join the North Carolina Advocates For Justice as a Law Office Manager member, please join online now. We look forward to welcoming you!
Retired/Affiliate
Many of our members remain dedicated to our mission and ideals upon retirement, and choose to continue to support the North Carolina Advocates For Justice by maintaining membership in our "Retired" category. There is a small membership fee for this membership type, while retired members enjoy the same benefits as regular members.
In addition, trial lawyers from other states often wish to become members of the North Carolina Advocates For Justice, so the "Affiliate" membership type has been created for them. Such members enjoy limited membership at low cost.
Judges
While judges cannot become full members of the North Carolina Advocates For Justice, we do offer complimentary attendance at any NCAJ CLE to any judge who wishes to attend.
